Oscar Isaac could play Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid film

It sounds like Oscar Isaac could, potentially, star as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid feature film. Last night, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Skull Island) posted to Twitter that “The Ball’s in Oscar’s court” about the casting, but stressed the “full process to cast an icon hasn’t even started.

Vogt-Roberts also included a Photoshop from Twitter user BossLogic, which had the Star Wars actor appear as Solid Snake, the game’s main character. The filmmaker’s tweet, as well as the Photoshop poster, seemed to be a reply from an interview with Isaac that IGN had published earlier that day, where spoke to about the possibility of starring in the video game-turned-movie, saying simply, “I’m throwing my hat in for that one.

There was also a text exchange from Vogt-Roberts and BossLogic, which included the line “If I share something else with you ya [sic] promise no one else will see?” However, portions of their exchange were blocked out from public view, but it will certainly feed the rumor mill as to Isaac’s involvement in the feature film adaptation.

Vogt-Roberts has been attached to the Metal Gear Solid movie since 2014. It was announced in 2017 that Derek Connelly (Jurassic World) would pen the script.

Meanwhile, Isaac is currently in talks to join the already-impressive cast of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune. You can catch him in the all-star heist movie Triple Frontier, which is currently in theaters before its premiere on Netflix March 13.
