The untold truth of Briana DeJesus

When Teen Mom 3 ended in November 2013, Briana DeJesus resumed her normal life as a young woman living in Orlando. Unlike the ladies of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2, DeJesus put her energy into finding a solid career outside of reality television, and she completely abandoned her life in the spotlight. All of that changed, however, when MTV came knocking on DeJesus' door in June 2017.

Shortly thereafter, DeJesus jumped back into the limelight a la TM2 with a big splash. Although DeJesus embraced a quiet life prior to her return, she did a complete 180 in a matter of months — we're talking a pregnancy, breakup, and a massive feud with her TM2 costar, Kailyn Lowry. Whew, we're tired already. Of course, there are a lot of questions about how DeJesus' quiet life in Orlando spiraled into a whirlwind of drama. So, what really went down in DeJesus' world throughout the past few years? Here's the untold truth of Briana DeJesus.

DeJesus' social media antics

Some public figures would be better off if they disabled their social media accounts. DeJesus falls into this category.

As for DeJesus' most cringeworthy message, it might be her take on the apparent suicides of designer Kate Spade and chef Anthony Bourdain. Following the tragic deaths, DeJesus took to Twitter on June 8 to issue a controversial take on people who end their own lives. In the since deleted tweet, DeJesus penned (via Pop Culture): "I know depression is real but I could never understand how someone can commit suicide that has kids. Yea, You'll no longer suffer but ur kids will. It's just sad. I would never want to die and leave my kids behind."

Of course, many were offended by DeJesus' perspective, and some accused her of perpetuating mental health stigmas.

"As someone who has lost their mother to suicide at the age of 13, I find this tweet hurtful," one fan wrote. "It took me years to stop thinking I wasn't enough to keep her alive." Another person added, "Saying suicide is selfish is saying, 'Although I don't understand clinical depression Well said.

Her family's shocking secret

Briana DeJesus
DeJesus and her sister, Brittany DeJesus, found themselves in a dramatic paternity situation when it was revealed that they have different fathers. The shocking moment unfolded on an episode of VH1's Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn, when the sisters' mom, Roxanne DeJesus, confessed to Brittany that her dad isn't her biological father. Following the devastating reveal, Brittany told her mom, according to VH1, "I'm going to throw up all over you in like 2.5 seconds, seriously. I feel like I'm going to throw the f**k up." Yikes.

DeJesus — who was visibly upset by the confession — immediately confronted Roxanne about the identity of Brittany's father. When pressed, Roxanne admitted that Brittany's dad had passed away many years prior. Talk about a devastating moment.

Later on in the episode, Brittany learned her dad was shot to death while his back was turned. "I want you to know, that for the time that he was around you, he loved you dearly, Brittany because I was there to see it," Brittany's biological aunt revealed about her father's death. "What made it a little bit harder was, when I saw him laying down, I saw my niece in him, and it was really hard because she got cheated out of a father."

The silver lining in this story is that the news hasn't changed Brittany and DeJesus' relationship, and the two remain close.

Her mom's battle with lupus

When fans first met Roxanne on 16 & Pregnant, she was a fiery and energetic person who did a lot for her family. So, viewers were understandably concerned when Roxanne appeared worn out and tired in the premiere of TM2 season 7. Roxanne didn't seem like usual herself, to say the least.

Sadly, it was soon revealed that Roxanne suffers from Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease. "They weren't kidding when they said it takes series of test to be diagnosed with lupus," Roxanne captioned a December 2017 Twitter photo of blood vials. "Thankful and grateful that I'm feeling so much better." Well, at least Roxanne finally has a diagnosis.

Given Roxanne's condition, it's more difficult for her to help out with raising DeJesus' two kids, Nova and Stella. Still, Roxanne does as much as she can, and DeJesus is hopeful her mom will remain healthy. "She's [Roxanne] ok for now. She's been a lot better but with lupus, you never know," DeJesus told Blasting News in January 2018. "Things can change over night we're continuing to pray for her and appreciate prayers and good wishes."

Feel better, Roxanne.

Her family didn't like her ex-boyfriend

When DeJesus started dating her fellow TM2 costar in TK, Javi Marroquin, fans were hopeful the relationship would last. And to be fair, viewers had good reason to suspect things would work out. For starters, Marroquin has a young child of his own, and they both know what it's like to appear on reality television. In short, the pair appeared to be a perfect match on paper.

Unfortunately for the couple, however, Roxanne and Brittany didn't like Marroquin. What made matters worse was that they weren't shy about their feelings. In fact, Roxanne went as far to imply Marroquin was untruthful about his military career. "How many times can you say 'I'm being deployed' and not get deployed," Roxanne penned in since-deleted tweet from December 2017 (via The Hollywood Gossip). "Stop using deployment as a tool for sympathy." Yeah, that happened.

Following Roxanne's dig, Brittany referred to Marroquin as DeJesus' "raggedy a** boyfriend" during an Instagram live rant. And not too long after the jab, DeJesus and Marroquin broke up for good in January 2018.
